oppositionwalks: (Lightning - Distance)

Isis was never really a tomboy by any stretch of the imagination. She wasn't the girlyist girl that ever was, either.

Even so, she always found herself fascinated with storms. Ever since she was a wee thing--well. More wee than she is now, since she's not exactly a large gal by any standard. She was the sort that liked to play in the rain, despite her father's preferences for her not to.

It was almost always a strangely freeing feeling.

Now, in this area of the Nexus, it isn't raining. But stormclouds rumble overhead as Isis stands there in her coat and heavy pants, boots occasionally crunching in the snow as she shifts her weight.

Thunder rumbles in the distance. Isis grins, shifting her weight and pulling her hands out of her pockets. She's a bit hyper today, and she needs to practice with this to boot.

"Now." Isis murmurs to herself, "Let's see if I've gotten more control."

It's not that electricity was a stubborn element. Hell, it's one of the easier ones to call on, it's more of a factor that it wants to do its own thing and follow the path of least resistance as balance restores itself. Since lightning in-itself is a bit of an imbalance.

Isis takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and 'visualizing' the world around her through her extrasensory abilities.

And she suddenly gestures with her left hand, the seal of power forming around the currently-hidden-by-sleeve armband (The seal forms itself in the air, 'around' the sleeve, despite the armband being hidden from the world). Lightning arcs through the clouds, and thunder rumbles follow.

Isis opens her eyes, spying a long flagpole far down the way. Tall and metal, an easy supposed strike, right?

Eiko is a bit behind and just watching, quietly.

Because she's not sure what she can do here, but support is support.

Part of her was wondering if Eiko would be here. As it is, this is Isis's version of the more intense training that people rarely get to see.

Mainly because a mage calling down lightning and controlling a storm in Los Angeles tends to run the risk of attracting attention.

Here, though, she has more freedom, as controlling storms--even by accident, as she's prone to do--isn't an odd thing.

Of course, she also expected Eiko to be training elsewhere, too. Isis shifts her weight again, and Eiko (as closely as their energies are tied) will likely pick up on Isis's alterations of the balance of the world around them.

It's easier in the Nexus. Lightning arcs through the cloud again, and thunder rumbles. Isis has chills when she does this, because it's that electrifying of a sensation (and yes, that pun was intentional).

"Come on... go down." She murmurs under her breath, gesturing again an an attempt to get it to strike where she wants.

The cloud flashes and rumbles again, but does not obey the command. Damn lightning.

Eiko does the training when she wakes up. The times that Isis doesn't wake up alone is because Eiko finished and came back afterwards.

There's a sense behind her eyes, something happening. Isis might sense Eiko's balance changing, as if she's preparing to leap.

Because, you know, being hit by lightning would hurt a lot.

And then more hot and sweaty exercise happens when Isis does wake up, right?

Well, yes. Getting hit with lightning would sting something fierce. There's a reason it's not done much from Isis.

That's also the reason Isis has chosen a target so very far away. The flagpole is at least a good hundred yards away (Incidentally, it's got a large green sphere on the top, and stands on top of a brownish-red concrete block, there is no flag).

Isis gestures again, lightning arcs down over the under-side of the cloud, near the flagpole, but not near enough. "Almost. Just a bit more.." She can sense Eiko's possibly about to do something, as well as where she is in reference to herself (which might make it hard for Eiko to sneak up on Isis, unless Isis is distracted). She trusts the other girl, though, so it's not of much concern at the moment.
