Happy Halloween everybody!

Oh wow, my birthday's in about two days, I'll be twenty!

It's one of those things that can't be helped. Fish swim, birds--for the most part, anyway--fly, and there's the fact that Isis sometimes worries.

The fact that it's been a few weeks since their return to the Nexus, Isis wasted no time in helping Eiko reclaim their room, including setting up her laptop so that she could receive a message, should one ever come.

Take this knowledge, and multiply it by the fact that it has, indeed, been a couple of weeks, and you'd understand too.

Their return had been heralded by a hail of gunfire. Someone from the illegal fighting ring was able to track down where Eiko was staying at the time, and as Anton had suspected, there was a drive-by shooting.

He told the girls to get out. He'd handle himself, and he told Isis to collapse the Summoning Gate upon their arrival.

In her panic, she was able to do so, but at the cost of her aim, as she had sent them into the Sanctuary rather than Eiko's room.

Isis has not heard from her father since, and is worried due to this fact. Anton Macrow, she knows, is a survivor, a fighter.

But even with this knowledge in mind, wouldn't you worry a bit?

A lot of the reason Isis practiced her magic here wasn't just to keep herself sharp, and burn off excess energy, no. It was to get used to how the energies flow in this Nexus. The Nexus, she theorized previously, was the path of least resistance. But, to go upstream, one must learn how the river flows.

It had taken weeks of little variations, little experimentations, to get the summoning gate to not collapse within a few seconds of creation. Even then, it wasn't always sending her home.

This time, however. This time she got it right. It had taken a little bit of experimentation with that PIN device to start learning coordinates (as, numbers too have meaning, as well as words) and corresponding with those, she was able to find her home.

At what was midnight of Christmas Day (Which, technically, made it the 26th, but time is weird, remember?)

However, she didn't leave the Nexus yet. She gets the feeling that this world of worlds will be a part of her life forever, not even to mention the friends--and girlfriend, for that matter--she's found in this place.

Isis wanted to share this moment with Eiko. Going back, with her. Isis knew now it was safe, as well. As such, she went to seek out her girlfriend.

Isis was never really a tomboy by any stretch of the imagination. She wasn't the girlyist girl that ever was, either.

Even so, she always found herself fascinated with storms. Ever since she was a wee thing--well. More wee than she is now, since she's not exactly a large gal by any standard. She was the sort that liked to play in the rain, despite her father's preferences for her not to.

It was almost always a strangely freeing feeling.

Now, in this area of the Nexus, it isn't raining. But stormclouds rumble overhead as Isis stands there in her coat and heavy pants, boots occasionally crunching in the snow as she shifts her weight.

Thunder rumbles in the distance. Isis grins, shifting her weight and pulling her hands out of her pockets. She's a bit hyper today, and she needs to practice with this to boot.

"Now." Isis murmurs to herself, "Let's see if I've gotten more control."

It's not that electricity was a stubborn element. Hell, it's one of the easier ones to call on, it's more of a factor that it wants to do its own thing and follow the path of least resistance as balance restores itself. Since lightning in-itself is a bit of an imbalance.

Isis takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and 'visualizing' the world around her through her extrasensory abilities.

And she suddenly gestures with her left hand, the seal of power forming around the currently-hidden-by-sleeve armband (The seal forms itself in the air, 'around' the sleeve, despite the armband being hidden from the world). Lightning arcs through the clouds, and thunder rumbles follow.

Isis opens her eyes, spying a long flagpole far down the way. Tall and metal, an easy supposed strike, right?

So, physically and mentally, aside from the different and awkward center of balance, being a guy isn't all as different as I originally imagined it would be.

Although it still feels funny. My, um. Other sensory abilities with my magic feel like they're off, like I'm wearing the wrong glasses for it, or something. I can't really describe it. It feels muted and dull.

I haven't attempted any spells yet, although I'm not sure what will happen if I do, it already doesn't feel right.

So I'm a guy. That's an interesting curse.

I am so very glad to be back to normal. Very. Very glad.

I suppose I can say now, I've been in contact with home. My father, specifically. Apparently, my Email list still works while I'm here.

Even if his typing leaves a little bit to be desired. I haven't told him about this Nexus, yet. I'm.. not terribly sure how to do so. I've been a staple of a lot of weirdness in his life, and my mother was before me.

But this rather takes the cake.

Incidentally, I got a new pair of shoes, ..Saw Santa Claus, and got a scarf and a snowglobe.

I also got a flower, but. um. After the whole curse incident, I threw it out.

I also have a girlfriend o_o

A little bit of silly fluff that I just have to share. Because it was fun and funny.

And so, it is snowing in the yard! )
oppositionwalks: (Laptop)
It's a little while after they've left the Sanctuary. This time, they're in Isis's room, rather than Eiko's.

Isis's room is fairly large by itself, and the bed is a twin bed with a nice, squashy mattress. Said squashy mattress is why she chose this room, to be honest.

There is a night-table, and some sort of bizarre looking lamp that apparently came with the room. This is where her spellbook is currently resting. The backpack she arrived with hangs on the back of a chair, and is open.

In front of said chair, is a desk, with a laptop on it (Said laptop is currently closed and off).

Isis moves to sit on the bed. She wanted to talk with Eiko about this. Because, well.

This Isis isn't terribly experienced in the realm of relationships, so, hopefully, talking will help!

At least in the idea of where to go from here

Control was something she lacked refinement on. Simple spells, or spells that used focuses (Like the Summoning Gate, and so forth), she could do.

But the magic and abilities are intricately tied into her emotional state, that this is incredibly difficult to do under ordinary circumstances.

As such. She, last night, asked Eiko about meditation, and Eiko offered to help teach her. So, after another good shower, and choosing a relatively quiet place, she awaits Eiko's arrival. Currently, Isis is wearing comfortable jeans and a loose shirt. She is, in fact, wearing her bra, although she wasn't last night.

She sits in the grass and waits. She's got her spellbook with her, and is currently reading it.

I really hope meditation helps on my control issues. Or at least makes it easier on what I already know.

It's my first Thanksgiving away from home.

Interesting that it should happen here, I suppose.

Isis stepped into the room she had claimed off to the side of the Sanctuary.

She set her backpack on the bed... )

I've been here a few days.

It's been an exceptionally long few days.

I'm not sure why I was brought here, or to what purpose my being brought here served, only that I know that I need to figure out where in the world to go now.

I guess it could be worse. I've found people I can talk and relate to. It's easier here, I think.

I need to do something about clothing, though, I'm starting to have difficulty finding things that match.
oppositionwalks: (Lightning - Distance)
I did everything right, and it still backfired.

I've gone through the book three times, now. It doesn't make sense.
